Welcome to CSA Compass. By using this site, you agree to these terms. They're written in plain language because they're meant to be read.

What CSA Compass is

CSA Compass is a free study tool for the AP Computer Science A exam: lessons, practice questions, practice exams, and an AI tutor. It is an independent student project. AP® and Advanced Placement® are registered trademarks of the College Board, which was not involved in producing, and does not endorse, this site.

Your account

• You must be 13 years of age or older to create an account.
• Provide accurate information and keep your password to yourself. You're responsible for activity that happens under your account.
• Your course progress is stored in your browser, not on our servers — clearing your browser data clears your progress, and progress doesn't sync between devices.

Acceptable use

Use CSA Compass to study. Don't:

• attempt to break, overload, probe, or gain unauthorized access to the service or its infrastructure;
• abuse the AI tutor — including flooding it with automated requests or trying to make it produce harmful, off-topic, or abusive content;
• scrape, resell, or redistribute the service or its content for commercial purposes;
• impersonate other people or create accounts with someone else's identity;
• use the service for anything unlawful.

Free service

CSA Compass is provided free of charge. We may add, change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service — or the whole thing — at any time, without notice. We'll try to be considerate about it, but we can't promise the service (or your account) will always be available.

Intellectual property

• The lessons, practice questions, site design, and code that make up CSA Compass belong to us. You may use them for personal study, but not republish or sell them.
• Embedded videos belong to their creators on YouTube and are subject to YouTube's terms.
• Java™ is a trademark of Oracle. AP® is a trademark of the College Board (see above).
• Anything you type into the AI tutor, you keep. We don't claim ownership of your questions or answers.

AI tutor disclaimer

The AI tutor is a study aid, not an oracle. AI-generated explanations can be wrong. Double-check anything that matters against your class materials — and don't use the tutor in ways that violate your school's academic integrity policies.

No warranty

The service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied — including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy of content, or that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free. Studying here does not guarantee any particular AP exam score.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, CSA Compass and its creators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including lost data (such as progress cleared from your browser), lost opportunities, or exam outcomes — arising from your use of, or inability to use, the service. Because the service is free, our total liability for any claim is limited to $0.

Termination

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, abuse the service, or create risk for us or other users — with or without notice. You can stop using the service, or ask us to delete your account, at any time (see the Privacy Policy).

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Missouri, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Missouri.

Changes to these terms

If we update these terms, we'll change the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the updated terms.
